Right from the beginning, the theoretical questions of the Institute for Traffic Safety and Automation Engineering have been tied to the question how deficits in communication can be prevented by use of tools.
The focus has especially been on communication in interdisciplinary, multilingual, cross-company projects which is preferably documented in written form, is legally binding or otherwise needs to conform to special quality criteria. Especially conceptual misunderstandings were to be prevented so that terminological questions have been at the heart of our considerations.
To support collaborative and distributive work on terminology issues, special emphasis has been given to the web-based terminology management system iglos.
For written documentation there have and will continue to be developed two prototypes for terminological analysis during text production: the iglos req tool and an add in for Word.
